More than 20 restaurateurs and retailers in the Proctor District of Tacoma have partnered together to raise money for Mercy Corps to provide resources and aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina. The participating restaurants and retail organizations have agreed to donate between 20 and 25 percent of the receipts from the sale of goods and services provided Saturday, September 10.
“This grassroots Proctor District fundraising effort will allow both participating organizations and local residents to help aid Hurricane Katrina victims,” said Mark Bleckert, owner of The Old House Café and project organizer. “Our organizations will be donating a percentage of our sales from the day, so the more residents spend, the more money we can raise.”
In addition to donations from participating organizations, shoppers and guests may also make a direct donation to Mercy Corps at any participating locations.
