The design of the Lincoln Avenue Grade Separation, a structure that will extend from Thorne Road to Marc Avenue in the Tacoma Tideflats, is partially complete, according to Port of Tacoma officials.
Meanwhile, contractors have started construction on the first phase of construction — a connector road between Milwaukee Way and the APM Terminal entrance. This road, scheduled to be completed in September, will serve as a temporary by-pass route during construction of the overpass. The second phase of construction — the relocation of overhead power lines along the affected Lincoln Avenue corridor — is currently out to bid.
Port engineers anticipate that this work will begin in September and be complete by March 2008. Drivers can expect periodic lane closures along Lincoln Avenue and Milwaukee Way.
