On Tues., Dec. 6, at noon, Tacoma City Council will review the proposed 2012 budget reductions for the General Fund at study session. The General Fund is the City’s primary operating fund and accounts for all activities of the City except those required to be accounted for in another fund. The General Fund is a small part of the overall budget of the City of Tacoma — less than $400 million in the 2011-2012 budget out of a total budget of $2.7 billion. The proposed reductions will be posted on the home page of the City’s Web site at http://www.cityoftacoma.org prior to the study session. The session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on http://www.tvtacoma.com . On-demand archives are available on the Web within 24 hours of the meeting at http://www.tvtacoma.com . Also on Tuesday, City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2012 budget reductions for the General Fund. This hearing will take place at the end of the Council meeting that starts at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the first floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building located at 747 Market St. There will be an opportunity to present comments at the meeting. Those wishing to submit written comments may do so at the public hearing or may submit them to the City Clerk’s Office at 747 Market Street, Room 220, Tacoma, WA 98402, by 4 p.m., on Tues., Dec. 6. Comments can also be submitted via email to citizencomments@cityoftacoma.org .
