A public memorial service for a Tacoma fire fighter who died earlier this month will be held next week at the Tacoma Dome.
On-duty fire fighter Albert A. Nejmeh, a 12-year veteran of the Tacoma Fire Department, died shortly before noon on Tues., May 14 at St. Joseph Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack while working at the scene of an emergency medical incident. Nejmeh was assigned to Ladder 2 at Fire Station 8, and served in a key role on the department’s technical rescue team.
“Al was a well-loved and well-regarded Tacoma fire fighter,” said Tacoma Fire Chief Jim Duggan. “As a member of our technical rescue team, he continued to hone his craft and teach it to others. He lived a genuine and deliberate life. We will miss him.”
A public memorial service to honor Nejmeh is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Fri., May 31 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall, located at 2727 East D Street. More information about the event is available online here.
