As the rain starts to hit the ground, so do the leaves on trees. Once on the ground, leaves block storm drains, creating flooding problems in Tacomas neighborhoods.
Residents can do their part by cleaning out drains in their neighborhoods that are clogged with leaves and other debris. With thousands of drains, the citys small surface water crew cannot get to them all.
For more information, citizens can contact Paul Tollefson, surface water quality inspector with the City of Tacoma, at 253/502-2120.
