Resolution would set Oct. 18 hearing for housing moratorium

Members of the City Council are scheduled to vote on a resolution Oct. 4 that would set a public hearing for Oct. 18 at approximately 5:30 p.m. for an additional 180-day moratorium on the development of housing for high-risk/high needs residents within the Tacoma city limits. The current six-month moratorium, which went into effect on May 17, is scheduled to expire Nov. 15. The City established the moratorium to prevent the continued concentration of certain kinds of special needs housing within the City of Tacoma and to allow time to review existing policies and regulations of these facilities.
