The Washington State Patrol responded Friday morning to a semi-truck rollover accident on the northbound State Route 509 overpass crossing Interstate 705 in downtown Tacoma. Trooper Guy Gill first reported the accident on the Washington State Patrol Twitter feed at 11:28 a.m. According to Tacoma Fire Department officials, the driver of the semi-truck was transported to a local hospital. One lane was blocked near the scene of the accident. A tow truck is on the scene. This post will be updated as more information is available.
UPDATE Fri., March 8 @ 11:45 a.m. — The Washington State Department of Transportation reports the accident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. The ramp from I-705 to SR-509 remains blocked. Emergency responders are still on the scene.
