The South 12th Street neighbors and the City of Tacoma will host a neighborhood clean up on March 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cleanup is specifically for those who live in the South 12th neighborhood from South 7th to South 15th streets between Cedar Street and Sprague Avenue and from South 13th to South 18th streets between Union Avenue and Puget Sound. Homeowners and renters in single-family and duplex residences in this area are encouraged to remove junk and beautify their property on March 27 as part of the collaborative neighborhood cleaning. Volunteers and staff from the City will accept items for disposal in the Franklin Elementary School parking lot located at 1402 S. Lawrence St. All that is required to dump is a proof of residence in the South 12th neighborhood such as a drivers license or current utility bill. Items that cant be dumped include material from a business; cars, motorcycles, campers or boat parts; truck canopies, trailers, boats or recreational vehicles; daily household garbage; hazardous waste; riding mowers; and animal carcasses. A massive cleanup requires the work of many, if you are interested in volunteering call (253) 389-6876.
