The state Department of Transportation and Tacoma Narrows Constructors will jointly pay a $10,000 fine from the Department of Ecology for an ongoing pattern of uncontrolled storm water discharges at the construction site of the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge, DOE said Tuesday.
The agency said uncontrolled storm water is a problem because it carries pollution downstream, into Puget Sound, and can harm aquatic life as well as cause erosion.
