For the second time in two years, Washington State Ferries fares have increased, this time by an average of 12.5 percent.
The increase, which went into effect Sunday, coincided with annual peak season increases, which are in effect through Oct. 13.
Together, the fare hikes mean a one-way trip for a car and driver between Seattle and Bremerton will cost $11.25, up from $8.
Passenger-only fares from Seattle to Bainbridge Island jumped 60 cents, from $4.50 to $5.10.
