Washingtons unemployment rate remained virtually unchanged at 7 percent last month, but the state Employment Security Department warned Tuesday that the effect of Boeing layoffs hasnt been felt yet.
The department had reported Novembers jobless rate at 6.8 percent, but later revised the figure upward to 7 percent, one of the highest jobless rates in the nation.
Adjusted for seasonal changes, the December unemployment rate was 7.1 percent, higher than the national rate of 5.8 percent, but still lower than in Oregon, where unemployment reached 7.5 percent.
