The Third Annual Student Art Exhibition, featuring works in a variety of media by Tacoma Community College art students, will be on view May 23 through June 9 at The Gallery at TCC. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; admission is free.
An exhibit opening reception is slated for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 23. RSVPs are requested to (253) 460 – 4306.
Each year, 30 to 60 students are chosen to have their art displayed. Works include paintings, ceramics, photography, drawings, sculptures and graphic design.
This exhibit gives students an opportunity to learn about gallery exhibitions and about presentation of their work, said Rick Mahaffey, TCC art department chair. They also get to evaluate their work and compare it to others in the best possible light. Mahaffey stated that exhibition pieces are selected to represent their artist and bring the viewer closer to the mind and eye of the student.
The Gallery at TCC is located on TCCs main campus, 6501 S. 19th St., Tacoma. To access The Gallery, use the entrance just off South 12th Street between Pearl and Mildred streets.
