Wrapping up Public Service Recognition Week, which has been celebrated nationally in the first week of May since 1985, the City of Tacoma is hosting the “T-Town: Play, Explore, Learn” City Services Expo on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Tacoma Dome. The Expo is free and open to the public. Parking is also free.
Designed to be an interactive community event, the Expo will feature live performances, demonstrations, activities, games and prizes for the entire family. Children of all ages will have an opportunity to meet Rhubarb from the Tacoma Rainiers, and see many types of City vehicles up close, as well as a monster truck.
If you’ve been wanting an opportunity to see a fire truck up close, talk to a police officer about making your neighborhood more secure, or find out about the many other services the City of Tacoma offers, this is the event for you.
The “T-Town: Play, Explore, Learn” City Services Expo is part of an ongoing effort to raise community awareness about the services delivered by the various departments at the City of Tacoma, educate the community about how city government works, and offer an opportunity for community members to share ideas and feedback about how the City should utilize its resources.
Event sponsors include Broadway Center; Children’s Museum of Tacoma; Colors Gift Shop; Foss Waterway Seaport; Hello, Cupcake; Hotel Murano; Joeseppi’s Italian Ristorante; Johnny’s Dock; Old Town Bicycle; Pacific Grill; Seattle Sounders; Tacoma Public Schools; and Washington State History Museum. Call 311 within Tacoma city limits, or (253) 591-5000 from anywhere else, if you have any questions.
