Tacoma 360 seeks board members

Tacoma 360, a collaborative partnership with the City of Tacoma, Metro Parks Tacoma and Tacoma Public Schools, is recruiting volunteers for their executive board. The board is comprised of nine regular members. Three positions are currently available, which are three-year terms through August 2012.

The board is seeking applicants who represent youth or family advocacy or service organizations, a business community leader and a citizen. Tacoma 360 plans to advocate and work towards creating conditions for increased collaboration between school and community services with a focus on children and families in Tacoma. The board is primarily responsible for aligning existing efforts to eliminate the achievement gap in Tacoma; increasing graduation rates; increasing student readiness for post high school success; and connecting Tacoma residents with community programs and services that promote ongoing life-long learning.

Once established, the Tacoma 360 executive board will determine the bylaws for the organization. These are unpaid positions and applicants should not be currently employed by, or on a board or commission for the City of Tacoma, Metro Parks Tacoma or Tacoma Public Schools. Applications must be submitted to the Mayor’s Office by Nov. 16, with an interview to follow. To apply, send a completed application to Cindy Leingang, Mayor’s Office, 747 Market St., Room 1200, Tacoma, WA 98402. Applicants can download the required application from the City’s Web site at http://www.cityoftacoma.org/commissions .
