Tacoma Chamber honors healthy Pierce County employers

The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber has announced the recipients of the organization’s annual “WorkWell Awards,” which recognize local employers who make health and wellness a priority in their work places.

Honorees were divided into two categories: Gold Designees, which include employers that implemented changes in three categories (healthy eating, physical activity, and tobacco-free); and Silver Designees, which include employers that implemented changes in two of the three categories (healthy eating, physical activity, and tobacco-free).

This year’s Gold Designees include MultiCare Health System; Pierce Transit; Tacoma Community House; and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. This year’s Silver Designees include the Better Business Bureau serving Alaska, Oregon & Western Washington; Rapport Benefits Group, Inc.; and Tacoma Public Schools. This year’s Active Transportation Advocate Designee, which provides encouragement and incentives to their employees for using active transportation, is the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. The Happy Heart Designees, which demonstrate a broad and long-term commitment to employee health and well-being, include MultiCare Health System; Pierce Transit; Rapport Benefits Group, Inc.; Tacoma Community House; Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department; and Tacoma Public Schools.
