City of Tacoma employees are expected to learn more today about the fate of their jobs as Tacoma City Council holds two public meetings to discuss budget cuts aimed to bridge a $23 million general fund deficit. On Monday, 166 city workers were told their jobs were in jeopardy; those employees include 47 staffers in the fire department and 48 staffers in the police department. Today at noon, Tacoma City Council will review the budget reductions proposed by interim City Manager Rey Arellano. Later today, City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget reductions. The hearing will take place at the end of the Council meeting that starts at 5 p.m.
