Tacoma City Council is scheduled on Nov. 18 to consider a resolution that declares the City’s intent to work collaboratively with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians on a stewardship plan for the cleanup of the area referred to as First Creek. As of September of this year, more than 81 tons of debris had been removed from the area. Based on this success, staff of the City and the Tribe have recognized the opportunity to continue the momentum that has been built around First Creek by developing a stewardship plan for the area. A stewardship plan for First Creek would assist the City in protecting the infrastructure; contribute to the Citys open space planning and environmental preservation efforts; and would recognize the cultural significance of the area.
