A vacant, 74-year-old former single-family home located in the 3000 block of 70th Avenue East in Fife was the site of a training burn for Tacoma firefighters Wednesday. According to a Tacoma Fire Department spokesperson, live fire training in a controlled environment is a valuable tool to develop firefighting skills. Throughout the day-long exercise, more than 20 firefighters participated in a variety of drills, such as interior fire attack, hose handling, observing fire behavior, and deploying a Rapid Intervention Crew to rescue trapped firefighters.
