Marking the 15th anniversary of 9/11, Tacoma’s firefighters will host a public remembrance ceremony on Sept. 11, 9 a.m., at the Firefighters Memorial (3301 Ruston Way).

The program will include speeches by Deputy Mayor Ryan Mello, Fire Chief Jim Duggan and New York Deputy Chief Richard Alles.

Due to the Downtown to Defiance event,  northbound Schuster Parkway and northwest bound Ruston Way will be closed. Access to the Firefighters Memorial is open on eastbound Ruston Way via Pearl Street, North Ferdinand and Waterview streets, or North 36th Street and Alder Way.
