Tacoma-based Web design firm SiteCrafting announced yesterday it has been selected to develop the new LeMay Museum Web site. The new site will feature a variety of custom Web applications including a virtual museum, advanced e-commerce tools and ticketing, scheduling and event registration, and a robust volunteer management system.
It is slated to launch in January 2008.
Elisabeth Davidson, marketing and communications director for the museum, says the new Web site will help both visitors and members. “The best way our re-designed Web site will help museum visitors is that it will tell the story of the collection, Harold and Nancy LeMay and the new museum campus,” said Davidson.
The site will help members by being a place online that they can gather and exchange stories and pictures of their cars, view the latest issue of OpenRoad magazine as well as purchase/renew their membership.
For members and visitors, the site will showcase the collection in a virtual museum, inform them of museum events, and allow them to purchase tickets to museum events.
The new site, added Davidson, will also be a better tool for staff to communicate with visitors, members, the media and museum volunteers. “It will include a special media section so that journalists have a place to go to get images of the new building,” she said, “as well as a volunteer area so that volunteers can sign up for and manage their schedules online and make sure they have the latest information that visitors need to know.”
