Tacoma Goodwill will host a “Super Refund” event to provide free tax preparation for qualified taxpayers, including eligibility for a tax refund through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), on Sat., Feb. 6 at the organization’s Milgard Work Opportunity Center, 714 S. 27th St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Among the items participants are asked to bring include identification, wage and earning statements, a copy of last year’s federal and state returns if available. The EITC is available for people who make less than $43,279 a year ($48,279 if married filing jointly) to claim tax refunds up to $5,657. The IRS estimates 20-25 percent of those eligible don’t take it.

Free VITA tax preparation service will be available at Goodwill Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 9 thru April 15, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Milgard Center. Super Refund Saturday is co-sponsored by Goodwill and KeyBank with support from the Pierce County Asset Building Coalition and Tacoma Housing Authority.
