Tacoma Goodwill will celebrate the grand opening of its second Coffee Buzz Cafe this week in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood.
The cafes serve as the training grounds for Tacoma Goodwill’s Youth Barista Training Program, which provides an intensive 16-week program covering specialty coffee, customer service, espresso bar operations, equipment and clean up. Graduates from the program have on-the-job experience and the skills to land a job at any coffee shop in the community. The cafes offer Starbucks beverages and sandwiches and pastries from the Neighborhood Bistro.
The original Coffee Buzz Cafe is located on the first floor of Tacoma Goodwill’s Milgard Work Opportunity Center, 714 S. 27th St., in Tacoma. On Thursday, Tacoma Goodwill will mark the grand opening of the Coffee Buzz Cafe’s second location, which is in the new Hilltop Regional Health Center, located at 1202 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way. Between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., visitors can enjoy a free brewed coffee on opening day.
