The Tacoma Mall is kicking off the holiday season with An Evening of Giving, a holiday fundraiser that will benefit 19 local charities, including the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, WorldVision, Goodwill and The Breast Cancer Resource Center.
The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Proceeds from each ticket sold will go to participating local charities and the Simon Youth Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to fostering economic and career development in youth through educational initiatives and programs.
Tickets for the event are $8 and can be purchased ahead of time from the Simon Marketplace located in the mall or from any of the participating charity organizations.
Tickets can also be purchased the night of the event at all mall and department store entrances.
Children under age 12 will be admitted free. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
As part of the holiday fundraiser, guests can participate in a private evening of shopping and entertainment.
Participating retailers include The Bon Marche, Mervyns, Eddie Bauer, American Eagle Outfitters, Old Navy and six other merchants will be offering discounts.
Activities and entertainment will also be part of the evening, with choir performances from local middle and high schools, plus the Salvation Army band.
There will be discounts, promotions and door prizes, including a trip fro two to Las Vegas from Doug Fox, diamond earrings from Fred Meyer Jewelers, plus 20 other door prizes.
By hosting An Evening of Giving, were offering a place for residents to experience the spirit of the holiday season and support local charities that benefit the community, said Lynn Castle, marketing director of the Tacoma Mall.
The holidays have always been a joyous time at our mall and we look forward to providing local residents more opportunities to celebrate the season together through holiday events like An Evening of Giving.
The holiday fundraiser will be held at 26 Simon malls across the country and benefit more than 5,000 local charities.
