Tacoma Mayor Strickland to deliver State of the City Address Feb. 24

The City of Tacoma and the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber will present Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland’s 2016 State of the City Address in February.

Speaking on the theme Better Together, Mayor Strickland will review major accomplishments of 2015 and share plans for the new year on several topics including economic growth, neighborhood revitalization, transportation, Project PEACE, and Tacoma2025. In addition, Mayor Strickland will highlight the 2016 U.S. Conference of Mayors Compact, which challenges all 2016 presidential candidates to invest in and protect America’s cities as part of their agenda.

“Tacoma is a welcoming community that made great strides in 2015, but we must continue to address structural issues that impede full progress,” said Mayor Strickland. “We are at our very best when we think big and work together. We must shape a city that works for every neighborhood, every community and ensures that every person has the opportunity to live up to their full potential.”

Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland’s 2016 State of the City Address will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Weds., Feb. 24, at the Hotel Murano Ballroom, located at 1320 Broadway, in downtown Tacoma. Tickets are $25 for students. Tickets for general admission are $40 in advance. More information is available online here.
