The City of Tacoma’s Planning Commission will host two public hearings Weds., Sept. 21 beginning at 5 p.m. in City Council Chambers in the ground floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., on potential changes to the Tacoma Municipal Code related to downtown off-street parking regulations and the critical areas preservation code. The first hearing on downtown off-street parking regulations is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. The proposed changes would eliminate existing minimum parking requirements for new development while requiring accessible parking, and reintroduce a parking maximum within the International Financial Services Area, among other changes. The second hearing related to critical areas preservation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The proposed changes would simplify permit procedures for voluntary restoration and enhancement projects, among other changes. The complete proposed amendments can be reviewed at http://www.cityoftacoma.org/planning .
