Local restaurants will compete for the top prize at Museum of Glass’ first-ever Slider Cook-Off event on Sat., March 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The event will feature slider tastings for guests and a cook-off competition on the Hot Shop floor. Daryl & the Diptones will perform 1950s rock & roll favorites for dancing at the end of the evening.
This event is inspired by “Gathering: John Miller and Friends,” an exhibition featuring 25 super-sized Venetian-style goblets created by Miller with some of his colleagues. Each goblet reflects the artistic expression of the collaborating artists. The signature piece created by Miller features a giant cheeseburger in the goblet stem.
Participating restaurants include Tacoma’s Asado, Maxwell’s, Bite, Social Bar & Grill, Adriatic Grill, Chambers Bay Grill and Puyallup’s HG Bistro. The Harmon Brewery will provide the local brew. Each restaurant will present its own spin on the sliderfrom cheeseburger to pulled pork to Italian sausage. The chefs will each have a turn grilling up their recipe on hibachis in the Hot Shop. A panel of celebrity judges, including artist John Miller, will taste each slider and choose the winner of the Best Slider Award. A People’s Choice Award will also be named from votes by event guests. Winning chefs will receive a slider goblet designed by John Miller and made by the Museum’s Hot Shop Team.
