Certified public accountants can earn continuing education credits through a series of fall seminars offered by Tacoma Community College.
The first seminar, Schedule C from A to Z, will be conducted by national presenter Vern Hoven from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at LaQuinta Inn in Tacoma.
Hoven is frequently interviewed by financial media and has recently been quoted by Money magazine, Smart Money, the Associated Press Washington Bureau and the Washington Post.
He is also featured on America Onlines Center Stage.
Hovens presentations on numerous tax topics are designed to help participants quickly grasp recent tax changes. CPAs can earn eight CPE hours for this seminar; the fee is $159.
In November, TCC will offer CPA and Ethics.
This is the mandatory course approved by the Washington State Board of Accountancy to meet the minimum requirements of the WAC rules.
Offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 19 at LaQuinta Inn in Tacoma, CPA and Ethics will cover professional ethics and specific applications to the practice of public accounting in Washington.
CPAs can earn four CPE hours for this seminar; the fee is $79.
