Ralph Hitz, earth sciences instructor at Tacoma Community College, has received a Fulbright grant to work in La Plata, Argentina, during 2004. Hitz is the third person at TCC to receive a Fulbright grant, according to college officials.
Under Fulbrights U.S. Scholar Program, Hitz will teach geographic information systems (GIS) software to museum staff at El Museo de La Plata, a natural history museum Along with museum paleontologists, he will also explore how GIS can be applied to the field of paleontology.
Recipients of Fulbright Scholar awards are selected based on academic or professional achievement and because they have demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential in their fields.
