UW Tacomas KeyBank Professional Development Center will host information meetings at 5 p.m. Nov. 9, Nov. 18 and Dec. 1 to share information about technology certificate programs for professionals seeking to update their skills.
New Technology Certificate programs in C++ programming and database management started in October. Certificate programs in Data and Internet security and Java 2 programming will begin in January 2005. The programs are co-sponsored and approved by the UWT Institute of Technology and taught by expert practitioners.
The information meetings will be held in Room 223 of the West Coast Grocery Building, located on Pacific Avenue across from the old train station (Federal Building). At the meetings, Professional Development Center staff will gather input about future technology programs.
“Each of these topical areas is critical to government and industry at a time when the technology landscape is evolving faster than ever,” said Lawrence Peters, program manager of technology programs at the Professional Development Center. “Computer professionals who do not expand their skills on a continuous basis will rapidly fall behind and find it difficult to get or keep a job. These new programs provide the opportunity to remain current in their field.”
The KeyBank Professional Development Center at UW Tacoma offers a wide range of continuing education courses, seminars and workshops for public- and private-sector professionals and groups. The Center is made possible at UWT by a generous gift from KeyBank and the Dimmer Family Foundation.
