Rick Schmidtke, president and CEO of Harborstone Credit Union, recently was named Credit Union Professional of the Year for 2004. Schmidtke was recognized for his leadership in industry issues and spearheading partnerships for new services with other credit unions.
Each year the Pierce County Chapter of Credit Unions honors a Credit Union Professional of the Year at its annual awards program.
Schmidtke has been involved with credit union issues at the local, regional and national levels. He has assisted other credit union CEOs as they faced a variety of challenges. With Schmidtke leading the way, Harborstone has partnered with other credit unions to offer new services such as investments, insurance and business lending to members throughout the state.
“Recognition from ones peers is always an honor,” Schmidtke said. “Our progress at Harborstone is a tribute to the great team of employees we have. Weve been leaders in new ventures because of their dedication and energy.”
Schmidtke has been president/CEO at Harborstone since 1998. Prior to joining the company he had more than 30 years experience in the credit union and thrift industries.
