“Pierce Transit has won a 1999 Savvy Award from the City County Communications & Marketing Association, a national organization of public-sector communications professionals. The agency won for its SAM to TAM Art Lovers Express, a 1998 marketing campaign that promoted riding the Seattle Express bus service to major exhibits at the Seattle Art Museum and the Tacoma Art Museum.Pierce Transit entered into a partnership with both museums to offer a package ticket that included one round-trip bus ride between Tacoma and Seattle, plus discounted admissions to both exhibits. Both museums are located near the Seattle Express bus route. Our goal was to raise awareness of the fact that the Seattle Express is a convenient way to sample the cultural attractions of both downtown Tacoma and Seattle, said Jean Jackman, Pierce Transits public relations officer. Over 750 people purchased SAM to TAM passes. The Savvy Award is the highest award given by the national association. Pierce Transit won in the category, Most Creative Campaign/Least Dollars Spent.”
