UP residents to get curbside oversize brush pickup in April

University Place residents will see a new service from UP Refuse this spring.
At no additional cost to customers, the company will provide curbside pickup of oversize brush and limbs from April 12 through April 23.

Residents can leave oversize branches, brush and limbs at the curb in one pile that measures no more than 6 feet wide by 6 feet long by 6 feet tall.

UP Refuse will not accept stumps, loose piles of grass, leaves, weeds, etc., or limbs larger than 4 inches in diameter.

Pickups will take place on the same day as regularly scheduled recycling/yard waste collection days.

All UP Refuse customers, regardless of whether they subscribe to the biweekly yard-waste recycling program, are eligible to participate.

Lakewood Refuse will also be providing curbside oversize brush pickup for its University Place customers during that same April 12-23 period. The same rules will apply.

The new curbside oversize brush and limb pickup service was made possible through franchise negotiations between the city and UP Refuse last year.

In addition, UP Refuse agreed, as part of the franchise negotiations, to lower rates by nearly $2 per month for most services and empty trash receptacles on city streets and in city parks year-round.
