UW Tacoma lecture series begins today

Experts in sustainable development and health issues in the built environment will lecture at the University of Washington Tacoma in May.

Today in Carwein Auditorium, Patrick Kuo, president of Cascadia Development Corporation, will talk about sustainable and mixed-use development at the Cascadia development, a 4700-acre planned community near Bonney Lake.

May 25 in BHS 106, Beth Glynn, a public educator at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, will discuss how development impacts our ability to be physically active and obtain healthy foods, as well as the “walkability” of our communities and the health of our region.

Both lectures begin at 12:45 p.m. and are free and open to the public. The lecture series is presented by the student group Civitas. For directions and a map of the UWT campus, please visit http://www.tacoma.washington.edu/campus_map .
