World’s Largest Rubber Duck adds to biggest event ever on Tacoma waterfront
Festival will take place June 15-18, 2017 and include more than 20 historic ships; Tacoma Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert
While the shores of the Puget Sound are no stranger to various ships and vessels, they’ve never seen anything quite like this. Festival of Sail Tacoma 2017 is just months away and with it more than 20 rare, historic ships from around the world accompanied by the World’s Largest Rubber Duck.
On June 15–18, 2017, behind the slipstream of the 61 ft. tall, 11-ton World’s Largest Rubber Duck, the awe-inspiring historic ships will sail into the Tacoma Waterfront for Festival of Sail Tacoma 2017. Festival of Sail Tacoma will hold the mantle of largest ever event on the Tacoma Waterfront. Tacoma, along with Festival of Sail Coos Bay & North Bend, will be the only two Pacific ports that will host the historic ships in 2017.
This unique festival offers up a rare chance to catch a glimpse, step aboard and even set sail on some of the grandest ships of yore. The event is a four-day celebration that will include a fleet of globally renowned historic ships with ticket prices ranging from $9-$150. More than 20 ships will appear on the shores of Tacoma with featured vessels that include Bill of Rights, Spike Africa, Virginia V, Schooner Freda B, Hawaiian Chieftain and Lady Washington.
Along with on board tours and day sails, other exciting activities will include live music, entertainment, locally curated craft beer, educational programming, local food and fun for the entire family. Accompanying the myriad of exciting activities at Festival of Sail Tacoma, will be a free performance by the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra.
