Gasoline prices in Western Washington have topped $2 per gallon in some places, with premium unleaded selling for $2.04 at one Seattle-area gas station.
The average price of gasoline in Washington is up 28 cents over last month, an average of about 8 cents per week in February, according to the Automobile Association of America.
Still, oil industry analysts say the high prices are reflective of normal supply and demand, and do not constitute price gouging by oil companies in anticipation of a U.S.-led war against Iraq.
